Lameness Investigations

At the hospital our specialists regularly perform lameness and poor performance investigation. This includes assessment on straight line, lunge (soft and hard) and when indicated ridden assessment. Diagnostic analgesia is then used in most cases to localise the source of lameness.

We have added an electronic lameness locator to our lameness investigation armoury. It is extremely helpful in investigating horses with multi limb lameness, particularly in giving a totally objective assessment of the response to nerve blocks. Jonathan Withers is happy to discuss which cases might benefit with referring vets. We can also offer a lameness locator test as an adjunct to pre-purchase examinations.
